Conversion underway ...
... Eastwoodhill House used to be a Church of Scotland Care home but is now being refurbished and converted to apartments. Four more apartment buildings are being built in the grounds. Many of the trees are being retained which is very good considering the information below.
The house was built in the 1850/60s for William Miller, proprietor of Netherlee Printworks. The building is B listed.
Found an interesting connection between the house and New Zealand. The National Arborium in NZ is called Eastwoodhill because the founder, William Douglas Cook, named it after his mother's family home i.e. this very one in Giffnock.
It is indeed a small world!
