It’s good to Talk.
It’s been a day of talking and walking.
A walk with Bella this morning and we met Sarah from across the road up the lane. She’s been having a rough time as her dad died recently and her mum has dementia. She is devoted to her Mum and has to keep driving over to Settle to sort things out for her. She was a bit tearful as she’s exhausted. We walked back together and then stood outside her house for quite a while. She needed to get it all off her chest. Luckily she has a husband who helps a lot.
Cleaning needed to be done this morning - dog hairs mainly. She is a hairy beast! I can forgive her though as she makes us so happy :-)
Frank has been busy all day - choir and music practice.
Tonya and Yurii were out all day at English class and then into Skipton to find out about courses at the local college.
They made us lovely filled dumplings - a bit like those Chinese ones but a Ukrainian speciality.
I finally got round to phoning fellow Blipper Amanda today, we had a nice chat and I also spoke to her hubby who has dementia, he was great to talk to and only got a bit mixed up. She does an amazing job caring for him
and is also a very proficient DIY-er!
I went round to see my friend Angie this afternoon who had to have her little dog put to sleep after he had a burst disc at the top of his spine, it paralysed him. She is devastated. Angie is the lady who has helped us wade through all the official stuff for Tonya and Yurii. We chatted for ages, she just needed to talk. It is so sad to lose a pet, they really are family.
I don’t know what made me think of school sewing lessons but that is my poem today. One of few happy memories of high school!

Pink Gingham
Pink gingham always reminds me
of sewing lessons at school.
The old part of the convent
was a beautiful building,
that I only appreciate now, 58 years later.
We would work in the sewing room -
with its parquet floor and wood panelling,
unless it was a warm sunny day
and then we would sit outside on the lawn.
The first thing we made was a hairband
then a pinny, both embroidered
in blue chain stitch with our initials.
We couldn’t start Domestic Science
(home economics to you!)
Until our cookery attire was complete
to the satisfaction of Sister Mary Cecilia.
Although I didn’t like school,
I look back on those afternoons with pleasure.

Thank you for all your lovely comments, stars and hearts dear Blippers.
Goodnight ;-) X
