These two fought like mad. She threw things at him, he tried to kick her. They screamed at each other and in the end I had to put them in separate rooms.

That was over thirty years ago and they are now two of the loveliest people you could care to meet. She was down from "oop north " before flying off on holiday next week and the four of us had a lovely evening together.

At the other end of the day my brother and his partner turned up on the doorstep at 8 am en route from Ouistreham in France on their way to Oxford. We had a fantastic morning - they are lovely people and the coffee and conversation just made the five hours fly by. It was so good I forgot to take a photograph but you can see them from a visit we made to their part of the world in 2018 here.

To see so many nice people in one day was wonderful. Truly lovely. A happy life is a crown of gold and the jewels in it are the people who make it all worthwhile.
