Moon Bridge Water

I’m certainly getting value out of my RHS membership this year. It’s RHS Bridgewater again.

A different day though. A group were visiting, and I met them after the presentation, which was a bit of a celebration of another award. The Garden has only been open since last May and has received 16 awards of one sort or another.

I learnt a few things. The Blue Peter garden opens in October. The first of the Chinese pavilions has secured planning permission so will be happening soon. And I asked if the pigs were still on site - that resulted in a detour to have a look at them - currently shuffling and digging out the land on which the new arboretum will be planted.

So far 600,000 people have visited, and the car park was pretty full today. The site is large and can cope with the numbers, although the café has struggled, with long queues, much larger numbers than the RHS anticipated. But they are looking at ways of sorting that out.,

Moon Bridge Water is a new lake, which is part of the surface water drainage system within the site, but adding a lot of aesthetic and wildlife value. It’s part of the Chinese themed part of the Garden, reflecting Greater Manchester’s large Chinese population.,
