Late Summer Visitor

This red tail dragonfly is very tiny.  He comes long after the other dragonflies have departed.  He sits patiently on a stem waiting for his breakfast to fly by.  Some dragonflies catch their prey on the fly others, like this one, just sit and wait.  My Gramma called them "darning needles".  The appearance of this wee red one is a sure sign autumn is on the way.  Our weather sure feels like it too.  Cool, almost cold, mornings but warm days.  No stopping Mother Nature, autumn is fast approaching.
