Branching Out

We decided to explore a new woodland walk this afternoon. Chafer Wood is run by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. After a steep climb up above Ebberston we emerged to discover the tower in the extra. The plaque revealed both when and why it was built

Rather liked this tree and it’s tangle of branches. 

In other news had an interesting conversation this morning  with a gentleman who wanted to know if the castle was old. He seemed rather surprised that it was quite sizeable too. I felt like I was giving a history lesson.
