into the maw of the cat

We went on a guided tour of the abandoned theme park Spreepark. What a cool place. It was very popular in East Germany, maybe due to the fact it was the only theme park there. In the nineties it was updated but went bankrupt in the early 2000s. The owner attempted to smuggle drugs from South America hidden in some of the rides but was found out. For a few years it  became a lost place. The ferris wheel was moved by the wind and some brave souls went on a ride. The ferris wheel is now taken down but will get re-erected. There is a project to regenerate the area. I loved the rusty roller coaster. I think I will need to go on a tour of lost places in Berlin.
