Mellow fruitfulness but no mist yet

I’ve got a big crop of apples and tomatoes in the garden, so I’ve been giving them away to neighbours. And freezing the good bits of windfalls, with the intention of making some chutney.
Went to the garden centre this morning to get some violas to put in my pots as some of the summer plants are dying away now, especially the mesembryanthemums, and tobacco plants. They were affected by the heat and drought, even though I’ve watered them conscientiously.
