Champions!

Kt and her friend up early to go to Burleigh horse trials, so another rather lazy start but needed it after my cold had led to another disturbed night’s sleep.
T and I prepared a set of entries into the village flower and produce show. I do love these little events..so nostalgic of my childhood and so full of characters. This show didn’t have half the rules (eg on how to present and display items) that the Ayr show used to have, but we entered quite a lot and settled them in amongst the other entries. Once the judging started we went over to a place on the river near Bedford to scope out what it would be like when T’s regional team arrives en masse for lunch on Wednesday in a team building charity fundraiser canoe trip. Neither of us had ever been before but it was rather nice….bar and restaurant with lots of tables along the riverside, space for live music and BBQ etc. We decided to hire a motorboat and go for an hour’s pootle between the two locks so he could get a feel for the trip….gorgeous river with lots of weeping willows, not really low water levels as we’d expected, and only one other boat. We had a lovely time….partly talking to A&N as they excitedly described another house they’ve seen and love (rather a commute mind you) https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/126613271 Goodness only knows if this will be another that slips through their fingers though….so hard to judge tactics in the ‘offers over’ house buying world.
After our boat trip we lingered for a bit of lunch then drove back for the big prizes reveal……and they did really well! Only the two sets of tomatoes didn’t win anything but it was perhaps the class with the most entries. T very pleased….just as he was when he won a class with his rock cakes when he was at primary school!
We came home and did some gardening before he had his snooze before working again tonight, and I went to collect the bounty at the end of the show then took some of Kt’s courgette cake to visit P. He was chirpy again (although has a pressure sore on his heel apparently) and enjoyed the cake and also ate a satsuma and a bit of the dinner that arrived whilst I was there.
Home and put today’s laundry away then made some salmon and prawn stir fry for Kt&N when they returned after their long day. We watched a very odd film…False Positive….about a corrupt infertility clinic which we all thought was bizarre then I had another early night.
