the battlefield
Last Sunday, the Royalist Army was gathered in this particular spot, as they took part in a re-enactment of the Battle of Newport Pagnell (1643).
On the horizon, lay the town and the church with its bells ringing out a warning to the local population. Even without the noise of the cannons, it's still possible to get a sense of what went on.
This morning was quiet - just a few dog walkers and, I'm pleased to say, a few swallows skimming over the stubble.
Best large a view of the church.
