First bath
Charlie's cord dropped off today which could only lead to one thing: his first bath!
I'd been looking forward to seeing how he'd react to water and my boy did me proud. We lay the baby bath on a towel in our very toasty living room and had the water at body temperature. Robin held him so he fit snuggly along his forearm and we put the water on his feet and legs first so he'd get used to it. Then when we put him in and braced ourselves for the scream - nothing! He was very chilled and just took it all in.
We'd been prepared to simply lower him in then take him back out again as per the 'softly softly' advice we'd read, but instead we got to actually give him his first proper wash.
He's not a big crier (so far) and hopefully this bodes well for a future 'bed and bath' routine. Although he doesn't cry too much, one thing he does do a lot of is get hiccups.
He's carrying on a habit started in the womb and he now develops them after every feed. They shake his whole body, bless him and seem to last an age. I hope he grows out of them!
A midwife is coming tomorrow for his final check, so I'll ask her.
