It's good to give!
Second INSET day today. Lots of training, including how to use the new 'Management Information System' software which my school is now using instead of SIMS (if you don't know, this is where we do everything - see timetables, take registers, create seating plans, enter assessment data, log behaviour/achievement points and get student info, amongst a million other things). We also had a 'lockdown' drill, which was a bit unnerving but we were a lot more successful at hiding than the staff in the toilets, who could be heard talking all the way down the corridor!
We had our first department meeting and most of my questions were answered, thank goodness, and after this we had a couple of hours prep time, which meant I was able to get most of the information I needed. I spent the evening sorting out my lesson schedule for the first half term and filling in my planner so I'm ready to spend the weekend doing my lesson planning - a huge relief considering where I was on Thursday (which was not very far!).
More important than any of this, I brought in two sugar bowls I got at a car boot sale a couple of weeks ago - one for our main staff room and this, slightly cuter one, for our little department kitchen. I'm sure I'm not the only one who uses sugar at school but I'm apparently the only one fed up with spooning it straight out of the bag!
