Maritime Day

Had a lovely afternoon on the quayside. Lots of stalls showcasing the likes of the RNLI, coastguard, river rescue etc (+ a few completely unrelated to the theme).
Talking of rescue things - there was a massive fire on Mount Leinister a few nights ago. We could see it clearly even though it was at least 60kms away.
Our neighbour is a Garda and he put a call into his station to see if it had been reported. It hadn't and he said people were afraid to report fires as they could well be billed (800 Euro) for a call out. A scary thought!
