The Truth About Temptation
It is Labor Day weekend in the USA, which is a holiday for most of us, so some people were missing from the Sunday service due to travel to be with family or to have a little vacation time. But, those of us who gathered together at FBC this morning and online with the Live-stream for worship, praise and inspiration were still blessed as Pastor Wes reminded us in his welcome that God never takes a holiday or vacation, so He is always available to us! The blessings continued as the choir, orchestra and our various talented accompanists presented an exuberant rendition of "The River Is Here" which included a trio verse by Brian, Julie C. and Gina and a solo verse by Gina and a wonderful piccolo part, as well. It was so much fun to be apart of that. After ,ore congregational worship, Pastor Wes to us into some serious territory in James 1:13-15 where he spoke to us about five realities of temptation. He told us that we WILL be tempted to sin because we are human, we will be tempted to blame ( God, others) so that we don't have to take responsibility, we will be tempted to question the character of God which is above and beyond sin, we will question the very nature of temptation is specific and destructive and that temptation that ends in sin leads only to death. What are we to do, then? We are to own our own desires that lead to sin. We should not get caught up in the condemnation we can feel, but heed the truth that we can be freed from that condemnation. We need to not despair, but know His hope. There is so much more information in the Live-stream that it would be well worth your time to watch it. And did I mention that just being tempted is not sin? You really need to know the truth about that!.......
