Builders at work, or not
I took this while waiting at the bus stop. It's on Fishguard Square right beside the churchyard which is bounded at the back by this row of tall trees above a steep wooded slope descending to the harbour. Every spring for as long as I've lived here the canopy has been busy with rooks constructing their nests and loud with a cacophony of caws. Until last year when I noticed that the nests were not there and all was quiet. Same again this year: I could make out no more than four nests where once there had been ten times that. What's going on? It seems that the rook population in the UK has declined and rookeries are vanishing.
By contrast, St Mary's church is getting a facelift as the scaffolding indicates.
I'm falling badly behind in commenting as I'm stretched to cover all my bases at present. The cafe, the cottage, the animals and the Old Man's affairs take up a good deal of time, a commodity I've never been much good at managing. It's frustrating because there are a lot of journals I'd like to catch up with. However for those of you desperate for some more kitten porn do look at the glorious image taken by my son Huw the day after his 200th blip.
