Golden sands of the Atlantic coast

Near Praia de Memoria beach, about 16km north-west of Porto. This was the late afternoon and early evening of the last full day of this year's summer holiday. Despite the reflected sunlight you see in the photograph, swimming here was not a bit like the blue of the Mediterranean Sea – I was actually quite surprised by the darker green/greyness and the amount of kelp on the seabed during a couple of breath holding dives.
