Life's Little Moments

Dancing with the Devil

The hummingbirds numbers are beginning to dwindle as most of the adult males have left, leaving behind a few adult females and a lot of youngsters.  This is a young male who was rapidly reversing his flight path to avoid the Yellowjacket.  It's interesting how they instinctively know that the Yellowjackets are a danger to them.  The rest of the time, he spent chasing other young hummers all over the garden and woods.

It's heavy and humid today, a precursor to thunderstorms later followed by a much-needed soaking rain tomorrow.  This didn't stop two perfect monarch's from emerging this morning.  One has flown in memory of the victims of the flooding in Pakistan and the other in memory of Laurie54's mom.

Charlie continues to sleep a lot, which isn't surprising.  I found a tick on him yesterday, which also isn't surprising.  First up tomorrow will be a call to our vet to see if I need to bring him in and/or do any sort of tick treatment.  Hubs and I are both hovering a bit, and I think Charlie is enjoying all the extra love and attention. He's really a very affectionate cat.  I still find myself getting emotional thinking about him being out there all by himself for two days.

Dark with salted caramel today.  And maybe a square of that dark with raspberry too.  Just because.
