Feeding the Birds

I made the mistake of driving over to St Albans at around 4pm today - totally forgetting that the schools are back.  The roads were very busy and it took me far longer than it would have down an hour earlier.

This girl had stopped in the park on her way home from school to throw food to the birds on the lake.  Her father was there, so he should have pointed out to her the many notices instructing visitors not to feed the birds.  The park provides all the food the birds need, and bread, in particular, is not good for them, pollutes the water and encourages rats.  They also point out that making food available all year round can discourage birds from migrating when they should.
