Beinn Liath-Mhor and Sgurr Ruadh
Over the railway at Achnasheen station and up the hill there are a this splendid corrie surrounded by a phalanx of Torridonian peaks. The two Munros called Beinn Liath-Mhor and Sgurr Ruadh.
We walked up in glorious sunshine and light airs as per the weather forecast. However on the ascent up the right-hand side (slightly out of shot) the weather closed in. Up on the first shoulder the wind picked up down the corrie and howled up the crags. Hoping that the forecast might hold true and that this was just a passing 'shower' we soldiered on to the first top to contemplate the ridge beyond that links the tops and leads to the Munro summit 2km further on. We cowered behind the large ice-rimed cairn and took in the scene - almost a complete whiteout with horizontal driving snow, the ridge beyond dramatically corniced and building. 20 minutes later we were back at the cairn having staggered across the ridge in knee depth snow being lashed by horizontal driving ice - the wind now approaching gale force. We had decided that it was better to come back another day and enjoy the mountain.
Thinking of in positively, it is like we have found an extra Munro to climb. It is bound to be completely different next time we are here.
