At last!
The big excitement today has been the formal agreement of A&N’s offer on the house in Greenlaw that I posted they’d seen at the weekend (you can see the story of the house’s redevelopment here https://instagram.com/ahomeintheborders?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= )
Yesterday during negotiations was quite tense and scary for them but it’s all been sorted today and they are so excited and relieved. They get the keys on November 4th…..
I started the day with some planning for the next couple of weeks (gosh it’s not long til I go to Australia!) and phone calls about P’s care arrangements…..lots of different people to speak to…then drove to collect Diesel's ashes from the Dogs Trust which was right underneath huge construction site of the new HS2. I listened to the new Maggie O’Farrell novel about the Medici family as I drove. Quick lunch with T then we went over to see the end point of his planned canoe trip tomorrow and check out parking etc. really is such a lovely river…we walked along it for a little way, looking at the huge houses that are built along the banks (and no doubt resent the public footpath cutting right across their extensive gardens.
Home and I did a bit of emailing about Board meetings then popped in to see P again. He continues to be quite chirpy, although said he’d not managed to walk much today when they tried to get him up and about. He can’t do anything on his own, but even with help obviously isn’t managing a lot. He’s anxious to get home now although realises there’s a process to be got through. Left him as usual when his dinner arrived so that he could eat in peace….hope he continues to manage more food to build himself back up a bit.
Home and chatted to A&N…they’ve already planned so much detail about what they’ll do with every space there and are so excited. What a relief for them after almost exactly a year here and so much searching.
