Glam Dippers
(Well, that’s what we named ourselves…ha ha ha)
Rachel wanted to try a wild water dip/swim so we arranged to go to Gaddings Dam. Sue said she would join us for the walk as it is a good hike up there. The forecast wasn’t good, but thankfully wrong. We had smatterings of blue sky and sunshine.
When we reached the Dam at the top of the moors we walked round the edge to go to the beach area. There was a woman swimming and a man further along the wall getting ready to swim….or I should say, to skinny dip. He was stripping off so we went on a slightly lower path as we passed him to spare any embarrassment. There was obviously no need because as we reached him he turned and wished us a good morning. We were giggling like schoolgirls by the time we reached the far corner of the dam.
The next ‘surprise’ was that Sue had her costume on and was going to dip too. Last time she wouldn’t even put a toe in….that made my day. I’d taken three flowery hats especially for a pic and we put them on and got in. There were a few squeals as we went in but it wasn’t too cold and we bobbed around for quite a while. The water level was really low and it was difficult getting by the big stones. We all stubbed a few toes on the way in and out.
It is always a faff getting dressed after a swim, especially when you have sandy feet, but we got ready then walked down. Rachel had a trip and landed flat on her face. She had a tiny graze on her chin and sore knees but it could have been so much worse as it happened right by a thirty foot drop. Thankfully, she was okay and was up on her feet straight away.
It was such a lovely walk and dip and it did us all good.
I nipped in the hairdressers when I arrived home and was very lucky as they had a cancellation. I’ve left it so late to book in time for my holiday next week so thank goodness I can tick that off my list.
The promised rain eventually fell late afternoon and there was even a bit of thunder thrown in too.
I think the Glam Dippers will all sleep well tonight.
