Tinnis Castle

The second day of the conference was a trip to Tinnis Castle followed by a visit to Stobo Kirk.  The archaeologist who led a recent excavation of a fort on the hilltop gave us a talk and a tour of the castle and remains of the fort.  The aim of the excavation was to find out if there had been an early medieval fort underneath the remains of the castle.  The fort is mentioned in the local Merlin legend.  They had found a fort but are now awaiting the results of tests to find out its age.
