Thursday: Cyclamen
I was supposed to meet up with my 2 Big Sisters for a Chinese lunch today but my stomach had other plans - long chat with Margaret and my apologies …
I was packing a couple of parcels for the family when MrD reminded me of this week’s postal strikes - I’ll take them to the post office tomorrow.
I went outside to spread the lawn mowings under the bird feeder, cleaned the steps, then cut back pink cranesbill and hellebore leaves and was rewarded by a lovely patch of cyclamen :-)
MrD had planned on a motorbike ride but the wind picked up, the clouds covered the sky and the sun disappeared, his Plan B was to go to the pet & Farm shop to get some sunflower hearts for the birds. He’d taken an empty 2 litre ice cream box with him and brought it back filled with blackberries!
Over the last few days some of the Bramley cooking apples have fallen and I’d been collecting them. I sat on the Lion bench outside and cut all the bruised bits from the apples, throwing the scraps on the garden border for the birds … and other garden wildlife :-)
I added blackberries, chopped apples and water to my large stew pan for stage one of the fruit butter -

Jam making will continue tomorrow …
Queen Elizabeth II sadly passed away today https://www.bbc.co.uk/news
Stay safe & healthy & happy everyone :-)
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
