At half mast

This was the Union flag at half mast in Chobham today marking the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. We have been spared the torrential rain of the last couple of days but it has left the flag, sadly, rather bedraggled. I have been remembering the day I met the Queen in December 2011 when she opened a new court building in the City of London for which I was responsible. As so many have said, I found her engaging, incredibly well informed, quick-witted and above all very human. We had a brief humorous conversation which I shall never forget.
