At half mast...
Switching on the television this morning, yesterday’s news hit me all over again. It all feels so surreal. Everyone I’ve spoken to today has just been overwhelmed with such sadness. At midday bells tolled at cathedrals and churches around the country in tribute to the Queen, and gun salutes of 96 rounds, to mark each year of her life, were fired in Hyde Park, the Tower of London, Stonehenge, Edinburgh Castle and elsewhere. Then this afternoon we moved into a new realm of the monarchy, and an emotional welcome to our new king, King Charles III.
An unsettling day. On top of all the emotions of the day, a wet walk to the solicitors, numerous medical visits and phone calls, and two power cuts.
