National Mourning - Church Open

Friday 9th September 2022

I had plans for my day off but obviously they were set aside, duty called. I had to get my car in for its MOT this morning, but first I had to load it with things I thought I might need, even though I didn't know what I needed, and get that to church before dropping the car at the garage.

Then it was time to pull the stops out and gather the team. Flower ladies did a gran job with the flowers and the flower club came and added extra. We worked in the office to create signs and displays for prayer stations. We set up the book of condolence and two places to light candles, as well as one prayer station, before 11.45am when we then got the church open for private prayer. We held a two minute silence at 11.58am followed by a prayer for Her Majesty The Queen, the muffled bells then rang for an hour.

While the church was open this afternoon, some of us continued creating two more prayer stations ready for tomorrow.  42 people came through the door today to have a bit of space at this time of National Mourning.
