Ringing the bell
The bell is apparently not terribly stable or robust, but it survived the hour of ringing to mark the Queen's death.
It turned into a team building exercise, with 7 of us taking turns and talking parish business while one person kept the rhythm.
Only one person had the knack of making the bell sing out- the rest of us were holding onto to the rope for too long, so it was more of a clang than a ring.
Still, we added our bell to those ringing out across the country.
I am very glad we don't have a flag, as the rules are rather complicated. I saw the local council boys up a ladder correcting a flag after they were presumably told (off) that 'half mast' is 2/3 up the flag pole NOT half way.
