Mexican Bluewing
It was a quiet day in the Butterfly House today, which was a real shame as there were loads of new butterflies flying. We had 5 photographers from the Halton Photography Club in first thing but the temperature wasn't too warm so the butterflies were not really flying that much - mostly hiding under leaves.
This is one of the new ones - Mexican Bluewing - a really tricky one to capture as it loves to sit high on the netting above. Occasionally it came down to feed on the nectar syrup that is specially prepared by one of the volunteers. It's then placed in an empty glass container with a pan scourer in it!! Works quite well.
Don't worry people, there are still a few more new species coming your way ;)
