Chain saw massacre...
...that's what my garden looks like this afternoon.
On the left this morning, it was misty and bedraggled. This afternoon it has just started raining but in between I have cut back four lavender beds and mowed the hay on my "lawn".
Anyone else who has box hedges or balls will recognise box blight. When we toured the gardens of the Scottish Highlands with a gardening group in June, there was much discussion of box blight. The consensus is that it is a question of when not if your box gets it and there is no cure. Most of the grand gardens we visited had already grubbed out some of their box hedges and replanted them with yew. Yew is fine in a walled garden but our garden is in a clearing in the woods full of roe and muntjac, who adore yew - a quandary...
On a happier note, wasn't that an amazing ceremony that we were allowed to witness this morning - I was fascinated!
