Nirvana
"Nirvana is not blowing out the candle,
it is the extinguishing of the flame
because the day has come."
- Rabindranath Tagore
Depending upon the hour and the time of the year, the rising sun shines into my entrance and lights up this little corner in my home.
I thought about the symbolism of a lighted candle and how it shines light into the darkness, but when the day (light) arrives, so the flame may be put out.
In these days of reflection, or contemplation, I cannot help thinking that when the flame of physical light goes out and death occurs, another brighter light guides the soul to another place of continuity. Death is not the end, but the beginning of a new way of being.
Nirvana:
It is used to refer to the extinction of desire, hatred, and ignorance and, ultimately, of suffering and rebirth. Literally, it means 'blowing out' or 'becoming extinguished',
as when a flame is blown out or a fire burns out.
