Not a bad pigeon loft
My first Blip for some time. I thought May 1st would be apt - nearly summer, Morris Men dancing, lambs gambolling, 'Workers Day' in South Africa etc. It was also a lovely day for a trot up a hill.
So on my way to work in Manchester I stopped off at Lever Park in Horwich near Bolton. It was set up by Lord Leverhulme in 1904 and left to the people of Bolton but not before he indulged himself by building Rivington Gardens. These included a zoo, Japanese gardens and this Pigeon Tower on the slopes of Rivington Pike. It's about the most striking part of the gardens left. Apparently Mrs Levenshulme used to go up there to sew in the top floor. The cooing of the pigeons must have been therapeutic.
