Blackberry Juice

A walk from our door this afternoon taking in the Fairy Steps and the Marble Quarry.

The change of the seasons is well reflected I thought in this image of a red admiral butterfly feasting on the juice of blackberries. Elsewhere we watched a comma butterfly taking advantage of the same food source. The still flying spotted woods are no doubt doing the same in the absence of flowers and their nectar.

It almost makes me feel guilty for pruning the bramble spreading into and across the decking and paths around our caravan first thing yesterday. But not really - there’s plenty left, and it’s really vigorous. It’s flowers and fruits provide a bounty for all.
