Boxes for what purpose?

The rowhouse across the park has been completely remodelled during this past year. There are no new tenants yet, but a row of new white mailboxes were installed recently. 
But mailboxes - what for? Mail? There's e-mail and there are text messages, but nothing to put into a mailbox. Even bills come attached as pdfs to e-mail.
Maybe newspapers? But who gets those? We read the news on web. Even magazines.
So these clean mailboxes can peacefully rust away.
For aesthetic reasons I wish they weren't  there at all.
