Bragg's Mill

For the Mono Monday theme Appendage perhaps this rather large sticky-out bit on the mill might do.   Running up into the mill through the stairway is the tiller that back in the day was used to turn the mill into the wind. There are metal fittings that suggest they may have used a pony to haul it around.

Many mills of this type a 'Fantail' set at right angles to the main sails which automatically turned the mill as the wind acted upon it... I've put a photo of Saxtead Green Post Mill with it's complicated looking fantail as an extra.
