A one way ticket to palookaville
Tonight we went to see a masterpiece - On The Waterfront by Elia Kazan.
Made in 1954 and winning 8 Oscars the story tells of the corrupt and soul destroying gangsterism that dominated the New Jersey docks and showcases the work of some of the greatest cinema actors to come out of the 'method school' of acting - Marlon Brando, Rod Steiger, Lee J. Cobb, Karl Malden and Eve Marie Saint come together with a rich script and stark directing to leave the audience stunned into silence at the end.
A masterpiece is an over used word in cinema but in this case it's justified. Highly recommended especially with this new digital 'print'.
Go and see it - it's an important film....and the photo?
A small homage to Eggleston
