Tantallon

As a break from all the Royal family activities in town (and I mean that kindly, I sympathise with the sheer scale of the demands on them) we took ourselves to Smeaton Nurseries tea room for coffee and scones then went on to Seacliff.

Walking north towards the Geghan is a good view of Tantallon Castle, standing gaunt against the sky.

On the way home we stopped for a wander in North Berwick, sitting in hot sunshine enjoying ice creams from the excellent Alandas Gelato.

This evening we caught up on television reports, of the procession to St Giles as the Queen's coffin, followed by the King, the Princess Royal, Princes Andrew and Edward was transferred to lie at rest; of the King addressing  both the Lords and Commons in Parliament in London, and the Scottish Parliament; and as they attended a vigil for the Queen in St Giles as members of the public filed past. I heard that the queues stretched about 1km but the vigil will continue overnight until the afternoon, when the Queen is driven to the airport to be flown to lie in state in Westminster Hall.
