Stumped
Bertie and I had a walk up the hill behind our house, into the area where the coniferous plantation had been felled eight years ago. It was tough going through the shoulder-high bracken (that’s my shoulder, not Bertie’s) to get to the cleared area where we could enjoy the view. Above the bracken, I spotted three red deer hinds not far from us but they didn’t hang around for long. Although Bertie couldn’t see them, he could certainly smell them and was very keen to find where they had gone, hopping onto the highest tree stumps to get a better vantage point. Much to his disappointment, he was unsuccessful in spotting them as they were long gone.
