Wanderings & Witterings

Suds

We had a beautiful day today for our Ramblers walk in Cumbernauld Glen: sunny and pleasantly warm.

The logistics of the walk meant that we had to do a bit of it through an industrial estate, but for the most part the sun shining through the trees gave the assembled walkers a rather dappled effect as we made our meandering way along the route.

As we left the industrial estate part of our walk and re-entered the Glen we came across a fairly recent addition to the landscape, this pond (pictured). A nearby interpretation board explained that it was a joint effort by Scottish Water and Scottish Wildlife Trust (who manage the Glen) to improve drainage and water quality in the area using, as far as is possible, natural methods, the project going under the acronym SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System). Quite a pretty pond, too, in today's conditions.
