Scharrachbergheim

yes, that's the name of the village I visited today to reconnect with a childhood friend. And yes, it actually is in France. The Alsace region is peculiar this way, with its German influence.

Scharrach (for the natives) is a very cute -- and very small -- village, nestled at the bottom of vineyards. After a fabulous home-cooked meal, we needed to stretch our legs a bit and went for a walk up through the vines. I thought that made for a nice vantage point.

One more day here and it's back to the States. I'll miss this.
