Flying Steller's Jay
We were almost late to the Bellingham Music Club concert this morning thanks to me hanging out on the deck taking photos of the birds. Luckily we made it and were treated to a fantastic concert. Soprano Tracy Satterfield and pianisth William Champman Nyaho performed art songs based on folk music. They were wonderful. We heard songs from Africa, Greece (composed by a French man), Brazil, Spain and the United States. Tracy is a fabulous singer and Nyaho was perfect on the piano. Afterwards we attended a tea and stayed to the very end helping to clean up. It was a delightful morning.
Here is one of the jays I photographed this morning. He was making a quick exit due to the overbearing nature of the seagulls. Even with my chasing them off they did make quite an impression on this jay. One of my favorite things about this photo is the shadow of the jay's feet on his lower wing. Press L for the large view.
Here are more photos of the crows and jays I took this afternoon.
