Septembers bounty

The apples on this side of the tree are fantastic this year.. this front apple is huge!  I wish I knew the variety but I gave this tree to my husband as a family tree and it has three varieties grafted onto it. .. none of which we can remember!!

The saddest news this evening is that my great friend's husband has died. He fell ill around 6 years ago and was told he may not live 6 months.. and through most of that time he has had good times and bad.. but has always had a smile and a great sense of humour.  The past three months have been very hard as clearly he was becoming very weak and the bouts of 'ill' were more numerous.  More mourning but of a very different kind...
