Given their heavy-handedness elsewhere in town and some of their sibling forces' recent behaviour I've been extremely wary when rolling up to the police on the various road closure barriers, but so far they've been friendly and helpful and haven't done anything daft like request me to dismount to cycle through the quiet roads. On my way home on Thursday there were huge groups of them starting to saunter back to their holding points, with the huge stack of buses parked on East Market Street presumably there to ferry them back somewhere.
