Whitstable On A Whim

We woke up this morning and on a whim decided we would head back to Whitstable for an early micro trip.
We set off just after 9 am and it was looking a bit overcast but by the time we were on our way the sun had appeared and it was actually feeling pretty warm for the second week in September. The journey only takes 45 minutes from home and we encountered no traffic and were pleasantly surprised on arrival that Whitstable wasn't that busy, with the car parks being half empty.
We decided to head to the harbour area for our hit of seaside ozone instead of the beach by which time we were feeling ravenous, as we had left home before having breakfast. So we settled on stopping at a harbourside eatery for, as it turned out, a rather large sausage sandwich - which was delicious.
Our hunger sated it was time to continue our stroll and get some shots for blip. My main image is of one of the sailing clubs along the shoreline - I liked the way the masts of the yachts felt like they were attempting to form a huge arch.
My first extra is of some of the smaller dinghies just setting out on the water to carry out their myriad waterborne manoeuvres.
It was so great to see people taking in the sights and the sea air and it felt more relaxed than at the height of summer.
My second extra was taken outside a childrens' shoe (and in this instance wellies) shop in the High Street, with its chalk based warning exclamation of possible inclement weather.
My last extra is of a stencil on the side wall of another shop (which has been there for several years) showing the Queen on a Segway being pulled along by some of her corgis - something which I hope would have appealed to her irreverent and cheeky sense of humour, as evidenced by the Paddington Bear and James Bond sketches of recent years and confirmed by the recollections of people over the last few days who had met her in person.
