Kerosene jar
Came across this unusual jar at the abandoned farm. A little research shows that it was manufactured by the Cleveland Metal Co, an American Company. The patent numbers and dates are embossed on the glass indicating that they were produced from the early 1900s. There is a screw top carrying handle and a plunger with a metal spring on the lid. The jar would be inverted to allow kerosene to drip slowly to feed a stove. They were in use in rural areas until the 1950s.
