Set Your Mind
For much of the day today, I have pondered how my affections, when my body is in pain or uncomfortable (too hot, too cold...blah blah blah) are often set on my 'creature comforts' and not on eternal things. The thought began brewing after a Weight Watchers meeting where I pondered how much I really felt affection for food at times when I didn't feel good. I feel grateful for yummy flavors that are distracting to my brain when it is coping with pain. I began to ask God if He would show me a tangible way to set my affections on Him while I am sitting in an office chair, hurting from sitting so long...because it is then that I often eat the very most...or try to find the yummiest food to distract me from an aching hip or strained eyes.
Just thought I'd write that down and see what comes of it. Fat hurts...my back, my knees, my waist. I simply must set my mind on things that are above and quit being so affectionate about yummy flavors and textures...because they are always the most fattening and I don't get along well with the extra pounds.
Just sayin'
