Passerculus sandwichensis
A windblown Savannah Sparrow in the late afternoon light of the Arcata Bottoms. A common sparrow of the California coast, this species resides here year-round; it is migratory throughout the rest of the country. It's most easily distinguished from other sparrows by its yellow eyebrow and digital-sounding song.
