Good things happen by chance

I didn't know what to do with this globe artichoke, so left it looking somewhat showy ('architectural?') in the veg plot; now the buds seem to be flowering so perhaps it's going to grow even taller and flower like a cardoon, which is what I think I wanted to grow in the first place.
