Homegrown

I nipped up the allotment, picked 3-4lb tomatoes, cut some sweetpea stems from a late sown wigwam, picked up some windfall apples. That's another batch of spicy tomato ketchup on the agenda, walked up to town to get the newspaper, back home pegged out the laundry, then off to meet friends. First stop Bovey Tracey, Angie pilot, I'm navigator. We head off in search of Higher Rocombe. Drove straight there with Angie's written directions. Sandra has dislocated her shoulder so unable to drive. We set off along the lanes, heading for Maidencombe beach, we passed an Open Studio sign, shall we? Shan't we? We did... I missed THE perfect line ABSTRACT, for today's Abstract Thursday #. Blow!!! Never mind, we spent an enjoyable half an hour chatting with the artist, Martin Dutton, viewing his varied works of art, perfectly hung in the extensive cellar below his Georgian home. Then we walked on dodging the traffic to eat lunch at Cafe Rio, overlooking the bay. It got a tad chilly once the sun disappeared. Back at Sandra's, we sat in the warmth of the conservatory, with another cuppa & a slice of boiled fruit cake. A perfect day out with the maids.
Home again, picked in the laundry, a swift glass of cider then made dinner. Liver n' onions with root mash, & broccoli. Slicing the homegrown onions brought a tear to my eye.
