Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 246
Yesterday a pod of sperm whales had been sighted off North Berwick. Today with a flat calm sea and brilliant early sunshine it was an excellent day for cetacean spotting. Alas nothing but a very low lapping of tiny waves, caught in telephoto, looking a little like some kraken's descendant.
After all the revelry of yesterday's May Day/Beltane celebrations today is a day to pause, reflect, console and condole with all those affected by the tragic loss of three brave Scots soldiers in Afghanistan announced yesterday.
