I can't look!
I would think the oak tree in our garden is well over a hundred years old and it provides welcome shade and dappled light in the summer whenever we sit in the sunshine on our patio for our evening meal. It is the subject of a tree preservation order by our local council and so we are required to seek permission any time we want to have work done on it.
When our house was built, the oak would have been half way down the garden, but many years ago the bottom of the garden was sold off, and a new house was built on the plot, quite near the tree. This means that every few years, when the branches grow too close to our neighbours’ roof, we have to have them lopped. Today was such a day so, armed with the official document granting permission for the lopping, the tree fellers began their work.
Rather them than me; I have no head for heights!
